Attention moms: this is a wonderful purchase! I saw it online and watched the video on how it works and thought to myself, "I've got to have that!" Clever marketing as it's finest. I picked it up this afternoon and we tried it this afternoon while going for a walk.

That was Truett's decision early this morning. Then he decided that he wanted to feed again at 5am rather than the normal 6am feeding time. I knew that was going to happen and at that point, I was going on three hours of sleep. Not a happy mommy!

But he made up for it today when he smiled at me! A real smile...not a gas smile. It was wonderful. Like we were just meeting again for the 1st time.

He's had lots of extra lovin' today. Our Great-Nanee came to visit us today and held him her entire visit while Jayson and I got in a little nap. Now he's with his grandparents and is enjoying Granddaddy's singing. That is a sweet sight to me and I know Truett enjoys it as much as Mallory and I did as little girls.

Now I'm going to let the rain sing me to sleep. Good night moon!

To feed or not to feed?!?!

I'm writing this post at 3:38am while Truett makes his decision on where or not he'd like to keep feeding or go back to sleep. We'll see how far I get before 1) he starts crying or 2) he goes back to sleep. My hope and desparate plea is that he goes back to sleep, soothed by the sound of my typing. :)

We had our 1 month check up yesterday morning and our growing boy is now 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 3/4 inches long.  We're up from 6 lbs. 2 oz. and 18 1/2 inches at birth. Everything checked out great! Our doctor was concerned about jaundice due to the whites of eyes being somewhat yellowish and asked us to go in for some bloodwork yesterday afternoon. They tested for jaundice, iron, and his red blood count. Thankfully the tests came back negative! Thank you Lord. That was a scary moment for me. I took him to the hospital for this testing and the whole time I'm going through the "worst case senario". If you know me well, you know I hate needles and all things hospital! I'm so grateful Truett won't remember his bloodwork experience and Ihonestly believe it hurt me than it did him. We were in and out in 15 minutes and we went straight home for snuggle time!

Jayson was on baby duty last night and had a very fussy Truett! He didn't get either of his morning or early afternoon naps so he was exhausted and cranky. I attended ECU's Relay event last night for a couple of hours and Jayson said Truett cried the whole time I was gone. When I got back, we were able to quiet him down and finally get him to sleep. While I hate my little man was upset, it's nice to be needed and be able to give him comfort.

Still sleeping, by the way.  So why am I still typing and not sleeping? Good question! Easy answer- he's a tricky little fellow. He seems to know exactly when you've exited his room and are laying your head on your pillow before waking up. I usally give him a minute or two to get into his good, deep slumber.

Wait...I see movement and there he goes...Signing off.

Happy, happy birthday baby!

Today is Truett's one month birthday! I can't believe how fast it's gone by. We've learned so much over the past four weeks and have loved every minute of our time with Truett. We tried to have a "one month" photo session today but weren't very successful due to our dear friend, gas! We're going to try again but below is a comparison picture.

Our one month check-up is tomorrow morning. We're excited to see how much he's grown!

This was Truett on the day we brought him home from the hospital. He's dressed in Jayson's outfit that he wore home from the hospital. It was too big then.

Tummy time

We've had a pretty routine week so far, so there's not a lot to update but I've included some pictures of tummy time. We have tummy time to work on building Truett's neck muscles and coordination. I think he likes it but who really knows at this point. He doesn't cry as much as he used to. We also have story time in the mornings; one of my favorite times of the day. I have a children's Bible that we read a few stories from along with some books that either focus on counting or colors. I truly believe we can't start too early or read to him too much and it's quality time for the two of us.

We'll celebrate Truett's one-month birthday tomorrow. I can't believe how time has flown by. I have mixed emotions about it- I'm so grateful that Truett's growing and healthy (and will soon be sleeping through the night) but I don't want time to go by so fast! We'll post pictures tomorrow to show how much he's grown.

Our "normal" routine: For my dad (who always seems to call while Truett's feeding)
6am-7am- Breakfast
7-9am- Nap time w/ mommy
9am-10am- morning snack
10am- Story time followed by a few minutes of tummy time
11-noon- Who knows...sometimes he'll sleep and I'm able to do things around the house and get a shower. Other times he's wide awake and only wants to be held
Noon- Lunch time
1pm-3pm- Wake time followed by about an hour nap all while being held, of course
3pm-4pm- Afternoon snack
4pm-6pm- Daddy's home. Yay! This usually turns into "me time" for my shower, errands, sleep
6pm- Dinner for everyone
7pm-8pm- Bath time, nap time, snuggle time
9pm- Evening snack
10pm- bedtime #1
12am- Midnight snack given by daddy (thankfully!)
1am- bedtime #2
3am- Mid-morning snack given by mommy
Then we start all over again! :)

Guess how much I love you

You've probably noticed the obvious updates to our blog including backgrounds, colors, and fonts but I've also changed our title. "Guess how much I love you" is now my new favorite book! I read it to Truett all the time and cry every time I read it. At first I blamed the pregnancy hormones for my tears but now I know it's really the sweetness and innocence of this book and thought it would be a wonderful title for our family blog.

The story is about a little rabbit who wants to show his daddy how much he loves him. When he'd show him with his outstretch arms, bounces, and hops, the daddy could stretch farther and hop higher showing the little rabbit how much more he loved his son. The little rabbit finally decided that the distance to the moon was an accurate show of his love but the daddy's love was more.  "I love you right up to the moon and back" is an accurate description of our love for each other and our son.

"Spoil 'em and send them home"

That was the Christmas ornament given this year to Truett's grandparents. But truth be told, Jayson and I are getting spoiled as well. We're so grateful for the help we've received over the past few weeks from both sets of grandparents and our other family and friends. Jayson and I have great memories of time with our own grandparents so we're excited for him to develop these relationships.

Truett's definitely being spoiled with love and lots of promises. It will be interesting to see where his grandparents house all of these items they keep telling him about- a pony, a tractor, a pool... I'm pretty sure Jayson and I asked for these things when we were little. (Maybe not the tractor)
